While Stand Alone Fitness promotes the use of resources within your environment, we like to lean heavily on the use of bodyweight and encourages individuals to take advantage of it to improve one’s overall health and well-being.

In this article, we will explore how you can incorporate the song “Flowers” into your workout routine with pushups, squats, and burpees, making exercise an enjoyable and invigorating experience.

The Power of Music in Exercise

Music has a significant impact on our mood and energy levels, which can be harnessed to elevate the workout experience. Research has shown that listening to music while exercising can improve performance, increase motivation, and even make the activity feel more enjoyable. The repetitive and upbeat nature of the song “Flowers” makes it a perfect accompaniment to a challenging and effective body weight workout.

Pushups: A Classic Exercise with a Musical Twist

Pushups are a fundamental exercise that targets the chest, shoulders, triceps, and core muscles, making them a staple in any fitness program. By integrating the song “Flowers” into your pushup routine, you add an element of fun and challenge to this classic move.

To perform pushups to the song “Flowers”, start in a plank position with your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. As the lyrics “Bring Sally Up” play, push yourself up to the top of the pushup position. When you hear “Bring Sally Down,” lower your body down to hover just above the ground. Hold this position until the next “Bring Sally Up” cue, and repeat the process for the duration of the song.

It’s a great 30-Day Push-up Challenge. Start the music, follow the commands, and do as many as you can. The next day, do the same but this time, challenge yourself to one push-up more than the day before. The goal is to do all 30 “Push Sally Up, Push Sally Down” by the 30-day mark, experiencing the progress, the accomplishment and the sheer confidence of seeing the changes over the 30 days!

Squats: Strengthening Your Lower Body and Core

Squats are another fundamental exercise that primarily targets the lower body muscles, such as the quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, and calves, while also engaging the core. Squats can be easily adapted to the rhythm of the song “Flowers” to create an enjoyable and effective workout.

Begin by standing with your feet shoulder-width apart, toes pointing forward or slightly outward, and in the sitting position. As the song says, “Bring Sally Up,” stand up tall, extending your hips and knees. When you hear “Bring Sally Down,” lower your body into a squat position, keeping your chest lifted and your weight in your heels. Hold the squat until the next “Bring Sally Up” cue, and then repeat the process for the duration of the song.

Another great 30-Day Challenge exercise. Play the song, do as many as you can but following the commands, only trying to do an additional squat more than the day before. You will see amazing results by Day 30.

Burpees: A Full-Body Challenge

Burpees are a dynamic, full-body exercise that incorporates strength, cardio, and agility. The inclusion of the song “Flowers” adds an element of enjoyment and challenge to this already intense workout move.

To perform burpees to the song “Flowers,” begin in a standing position with your feet hip-width apart. When you hear “Bring Sally Up,” jump up and reach your arms overhead. As the lyrics say “Bring Sally Down,” lower your body into a squat, place your hands on the ground, and jump your feet back into a plank position. Hold the plank until the next “Bring Sally Up” cue, then jump your feet back to your hands, return to a standing position, and repeat for the duration of the song.

Burpees are a strenuous exercise in itself, but if done correctly, gives you so many benefits. Injecting the song ‘Flower’ will make it seem easier and will even motivate you to do them more.

What I did over a 30-Day period (Challenge). I did all 3!

That’s right! I did a 30-day challenge where I played the song 3 times plus 30 seconds to rest and restart of the song in between, doing a different exercise to the music. 3:27 of push-ups, squats, and burpees.

A 12-minute workout every day for 30 Days! 12 minutes! That's it! Think of what your results would be after 30 days!

Working out is at times, hard to get motivated to accomplish but when putting these 3-bodyweight, body moving exercises to music, you will be amazed by the fun, the quickness in completion and the results in strength and endurance you will see over time.
